Episode 12 – The Fabrication of Evidence, Between the Absurd and Villainy

Exposed by His Own Footage

After the frame-by-frame decomposition of Păun’s footage, it is very clearly seen in the frames that he was not assaulted “instantly.” The images show that Lascu Cornel and Antal Andrei were next to me when I got out of the ATV. Then I moved away from Leordean Vasile, while Păun Gabriel was filming us from somewhere on the side. After I was crushed by the car, when I was on the ground, the two “locals” can be observed moving after Andrioni Alin’s car, which was leaving the scene. Only after this episode do we see Lascu Cornel heading toward Păun Gabriel. Before Lascu reached him, it is seen how Păun lowered himself to the ground and continued filming. The images show that Lascu Cornel and Antal Andrei assaulted Păun Gabriel after the attempted murder took place. They are reactions resulting from the strong emotions produced by Andrioni Alin’s deed.

The Flight from the Scene

A few seconds later, it is heard how the two asked Păun not to leave the scene:
Păun Gabriel: I am leaving! I did not know what is here! Person: Get back!
Păun Gabriel: God! I am a journalist, you cannot treat me like this!
Person: Get over! Get over!
Păun Gabriel: You cannot… say!… No… I am calling the police…
Person: Get back!
Păun Gabriel: No. We are calling the police

Person: Put it in the car and get back!Păun Gabriel: Hey, I did not know what is here!
Person: Put it down and get back!
Păun Gabriel: I am not going anywhere, I am here in the village!

After the dialogue above, at 13:14, Păun left the place of the attempted murder without any other incidents. Seven minutes later he had already launched the first message of a series of three false notifications, sent to some friends whom he asked to call the 112 Emergency Service and announce that he was seriously injured (with internal hemorrhage) and that he was in an area without signal (?!). How did Păun send the messages if he had no signal? Why did he not call the Emergency Service himself? The facts demonstrate very clearly that in those moments he acted, lucidly, with premeditation, according to a well-established scenario from which public opinion was to find out that a team of “investigators,” among them also foreign journalists, had been savagely attacked and that an activist had been killed (stabbed). Păun Gabriel’s messages caused panic and confusion in the 112 Emergency Service.

At 13:21, Sinculeţ Teodora, from Reşiţa, called 112 saying that she had been contacted by Păun Gabriel who told her that “they were attacked and one of the colleagues is dead, and he has an internal hemorrhage”. The woman gave the coordinates of the place from which Păun had called, from which it results that he was on the road between Coroieşti and Râul Mic, that is, exactly on the route on which the intervention crews of the Police, Ambulance, and SMURD were coming at that hour. Sinculeţ Teodora also told the 112 operator that Păun had turned off his phone and was hiding alone in a courtyard (audio 112). Why flee from the path of the Ambulance, if you claim to have an internal hemorrhage? Why hide from the police crews, if you claim that the “attackers” are pursuing you? Moreover, even after the police and gendarmes had taken control at Râul Alb, Păun continued to send alarmist messages to his friends. Thus, at 14:00,
Lazăr Emanuel Constantin, from Sibiu, calls 112 and requests a SMURD crew at Coroieşti because Gabriel Păun was beaten and is in a very serious condition, and another activist was stabbed and died. Likewise, the journalist Befu Daniel, from România Curată, called the 112 emergency service, at 14:21, and said that he had been contacted by Păun Gabriel, who informed him that “they were beaten there and one of them died”(doc.2). Which “they”? From the journalist’s message it is understood that it would be about an environmental activist, although the reality was exactly the opposite: I was the victim of the attempted murder.

Nonsense About the Hidden Camera

The three “eco” agents who filmed the events – Andrioni Alin, Păun Gabriel, and his girlfriend from Austria – left the scene before the Ambulance and the Gendarmerie intervened. Inexplicably, in the file there is no chronological presentation of the facts from which we could find out, minute by minute, what the fugitives did from 13:03 – when the attempted murder was reported, until the evening around 20:05 – when the hearing of Păun Gabriel began at the Haţeg Police headquarters. It is precisely known that Andrioni (having as passenger Weidinger Gerit, who was filming) drove the car over me at 13:00, after which he continued on his way, without going directly to the Police as would have been normal. The defendant claims that he thought he was being followed by a purple car, which is why he decided to stop somewhere on the road to hide the video camera in a bush, “to save the evidence.”

Here is what the young woman from Austria says in the statement given before the criminal investigation bodies:
Question: What happened to the filmed material? Answer: We left with the car and we were very afraid that they would come after us and take our camera, and we hid it next to a tree.

Question from lawyer Chitic: On the video recording it is heard how the witness says: Oh my God, my God! You ran over him! What are the reasons for which you said that?Answer:
In the whole event there, I saw how someone with his hands on the hood slid off the car, and then I thought that he might have fallen under the car”(doc.3).

The absurdity with hiding the camera is colossal! Why stop and get out of the car when you are being followed? Was it not more natural for Andrioni to go “straight” to the Police, knowing that he had driven the car over a man? What reason did he have to risk a stroll through the bushes to stash some footage that he wanted to hand over to the Police? From the place of the attempted murder to the town of Haţeg there are 17 kilometers, which take only 19 minutes by car. Why did he not go directly, without stopping? Likewise, the fugitives could have stopped at the first police station on their way, five kilometers away. (Closer than the bush in which they hid the video camera.) Apparently, the stop has no logic. In reality, their intention was not to hand over the camera to the police, but to hide the footage in order to edit it, fabricate it to their advantage, and broadcast it by specific methods. Which is exactly what happened a few hours later. While Păun was hiding and manipulating with messages, the other two fugitives give the impression that they entered and exited the Haţeg Police headquarters as if from a tavern. The young woman from Austria says that she left the Police to recover her video camera, which she had hidden in the weeds a few minutes before presenting herself at the Police headquarters. Likewise, she says that she was concerned with recovering “Agent Green” as well, so a policeman drove her to a taxi stand in Haţeg. Does that seem normal to you? How is it that she did not ask the policemen to accompany her? The answer is simple: in those moments, the activists were preoccupied with concealing and editing the footage.

“Eco” Scandal at the Haţeg Hospital Too

At 14:50 Păun Gabriel is registered at the Haţeg Emergency Unit. Then, for two hours nothing more is known about him, but at 17:15 an episode in the characteristic “Agent Green Scandal” style is recorded. The medical staff are assaulted with specific methods by the “innocent” defenders of the planet: “in the patient’s ward, filming is done by persons without the institution’s consent – the Police 112 is requested to resolve the situation.” Another scandal, more footage made in such a way as to put their victims in an unfavorable light before public opinion. The purpose of the scandal at the Haţeg Hospital was to put pressure on the doctors. The activists would have wanted the doctors to confirm with documents what they were giving out as news through their friends in the NGO press. Păun claimed that “some giants” broke his ribs in the beating, but on the X-ray the fractures did not appear. The scandal led to a compromise solution, a half-baked one. The doctors put the conclusion of: “Possible fracture without displacement”. At 17:35 Păun leaves the Haţeg Hospital. The manipulation had achieved its objective. Only two days later, on the reinterpretation of the X-rays, the forensic doctor categorically refuted the diagnosis of “broken ribs” that Păun had (im)posed on himself. The forensic doctor established that: “no fracture lines are evident”(doc.4).

The # Propaganda Transformed Me from Victim into Attacker

Like the other fugitives, Păun Gabriel did not go directly to the Police either. It is very clear to me that Păun Gabriel evaded the criminal investigation in the first hours in order to edit the footage made during the attempted murder. From their statements we deduce that Păun first met with Weidinger Gerit and with the lawyer Tudor-Tudoran Bogdan-Ioan, after which they downloaded and processed the footage on a computer. The counterfeit collages were sent to some close contacts in the press, who posted them on social networks a few hours after the attempted murder committed against me. In the title of the edited little films it appeared that they had been attacked at Râul Alb and that Păun is the victim of an attempted murder, which is completely false.

In the afternoon of that Sunday, the “scandal” at Râul Alb was analyzed and judged in the public space on the basis of these mendacious collages. The same collages reached the investigative bodies only a few days after the first statements given before the prosecutor.
