To understand the abuses that followed the attempted murder at Râul Alb, it is good to remember the context: it was 2015, the year in which justice was administered in the name of the “national interest” from the living room of General Gabriel Oprea, at the time Minister of the Interior. Those who managed to understand how the “State” works know that there was a local “living room” in each county. From Hunedoara, Răducanu Daniel was co-opted into “big politics,” where it is known that certain interest groups make the law, and political convictions matter less (video 11.1).
When I came out of the hospital, I found out from Coman Nelu, Vințonescu Gabriel, Lascu Liviu, and Lascu Cornel that Leordean had confessed immediately after the commission of the attempted murder that they had been sent by the mayor of Baru commune, Răducanu Daniel. Lascu Liviu confirmed to the reporters of Antena 1 that he had heard how Leordean Vasile admitted that he, Sara – his sister, Andrioni, and Sălăşan Luca had been sent by …someone (mayor Răducanu, our note) from Baru Mare. The testimony was to be removed from the criminal investigation, even though it had been filmed by the Gendarmerie team. The mayor’s friend made these statements in a moment of sincerity, when both groups were marked by the tragedy of the situation and were waiting for the on-site investigation to begin. The lies begin to flow only after they recovered from the state of shock. In the first written statements, they lie that we attacked them first and that I had thrown myself in front of the car, and then they “timidly” claim that they did not see the moment when I was taken onto the hood. The first testimonies gathered by the gendarmes show very clearly that the violence was provoked by the environmental agitators. They say it themselves in a recording that was never broadcast in the public space by the mass media. Leordean Vasile: “They arrived with the ATV, they came right in front of me, (and) at the moment when they came in front of me, that is when I jumped on the car and punched the windshield of the ATV…,” admitting that he had a provocative attitude. Also then, mayor Daniel Răducanu’s friend, visibly marked by what had happened, explicitly says that Andrioni drove the car over me (video 11.2).
Two Policemen Arrange a Dismissal
After Andrioni drove the Jeep over me, I could not feel my body and I was breathing with difficulty. I realized that I was seriously injured and told those around me not to move me. I fainted and woke up in the SMURD ambulance, which took me at 13:20. On the way to the hospital I fainted again and woke up in the Emergency Unit at Haţeg. Here the doctors diagnosed me with “Post-traumatic paraplegia” and requested my transfer to the county hospital for CT-scan investigations. An ambulance with a doctor transferred me to the Deva County Hospital, where I arrived at 16:20. Here I was diagnosed with: “cervical spine fracture C6-7 with spinal cord compression, fracture of the inferior articular process of C6 and superior of left C7; fracture of the left transverse process of C7” (doc.1). From that moment it was known that my chances of survival were very small. My health was deteriorating, which is why my emergency transfer by helicopter to the university hospital in Cluj was decided, for surgery on the cervical spine. At 17:49 I was transferred to the Heliport on the premises of the Hunedoara County Police Inspectorate. I was still in a state of shock, of semi-consciousness. The doctors and pilots were rushing to lift the helicopter off the ground as quickly as possible because a storm had been announced and there was a risk that we would no longer be able to take off. At the steps of the helicopter, two policemen with no connection to the case appeared: chief commissioner of police Zaharie Marcel and chief commissioner of police Sabău Remus. The two were part of the leadership of the Hunedoara County Police Inspectorate, but I do not think either of them had the standing to conduct investigations in the case of the crimes at Coroieşti. By the delegation order issued by the prosecutor, on 24.05.2015, it was established that the criminal investigation acts would be drawn up by the Judicial Police within the Criminal Investigations Service, within the Haţeg City Police, and within the 7th Baru Rural Police Section. The policeman from Baru, who conducted the on-site investigation, says who actually coordinated the inquiry: “Mr. Zaharia knows, it was reported. I did not talk with Mr. Sabău, it was talked with Mr. Zaharia. The section chief reported and told him who would come: the gentlemen from the judiciary from Deva, from forensics. We are waiting for them to arrive any moment”. What seems very suspicious to me, however, is the manner of approach and the insinuating questions that the two police chiefs asked me, given the situation I was in.

From the report, which they filed in the criminal case, it is clearly seen that they put words “in my mouth”, words that I had no way of saying.
“Question: Did you place yourself in front (editor’s note: in front of the car) to stop it?
Answer: Bocea Mihalache: Normally, I was on my land and I stood in front.
Question: Did you place yourself so that it would not pass, so that it would not continue moving?
Answer: Yes, this one (editor’s note: Andrioni) was (editor’s note: on my land), so, where the construction-site signs are, there” (doc.2).
From the report it appears that police inspector Dan Nicolae Adrian would also have been present, although he was at the Haţeg police headquarters at that hour. Moreover, even the signature of policeman Dan on the report is a forged caricature in comparison with the signature he put on all the other documents signed in the afternoon of that day. Why was the signature of police inspector Dan Nicolae – Adrian necessary? To give an appearance of legality to the abusive interrogation committed by the two chiefs of the Hunedoara County Police Inspectorate. The way in which the answers (supposedly mine) were recorded demonstrates that I was not coherent in those moments. As for the insistence and the insinuations of the questions asked by these policemen, what more can I say? It is very clear to me that they had already received the “daily order to the unit” to conduct the inquiry in favor of the fake environmentalists: “The dead man had to be guilty”. This is the real reason why the two chief police commissioners tried to wring from me the “admission” that I placed myself in front of the car so that it would not pass. In fact, that report should not have reached the criminal case at all.
What Testimony Had to Disappear?
After I was taken over by the SMURD crew, at the place of the attempted murder a confession was made that was to be removed from the criminal investigation. It was 15:48. A Gendarmerie team reached the scene and asked several questions of the participants in the incidents of 13:00. All the discussions were filmed by a gendarme, but from the material handed over to the investigative bodies almost six minutes of footage are missing. We can assume that the passages implicating the former adviser of Elena Udrea – mayor Daniel Răducanu – were deleted, and this could only have happened with the complicity of the authorities. Despite our efforts, the Gendarmerie refused to hand over the complete footage. Nor did the case prosecutors want to request it in due time. After three years, the Gendarmerie tersely communicated that the files had been deleted in accordance with the data storage protocol. Thus another decisive testimony disappeared from the case file. During the episode filmed by the team of the “Decebal” Hunedoara County Gendarmes Inspectorate (consisting of three gendarmes), the eyewitnesses of the attempted murder were present: Coman Nelu, Coman Neluţu, Bocea Adrian, Lascu Cornel, Vințonescu Gabriel, Leordean Vasile, Leordean Sara, Sălăşan Luca. Likewise, there were policemen from the Baru Mare police station and five locals: Lascu Liviu, Lascu Achim, Băltean Victor, Băltean Nicoleta, and Coman Vasile. Leordean Vasile’s statements were made in a moment of sincerity, when he realized what a tragic turn things had taken. As I said, several witnesses were present (villagers, policemen, and gendarmes) who heard what Leordean Vasile declared. That episode should have been found in the gendarmes’ footage, but it disappeared and could not be recovered despite all the requests made by our lawyers. The reason is the same as in the case of the other recordings: to hide the evidence that confirmed the intentions and actions of the agents of influence responsible for the attack at Râul Alb.
How Did They Get Rid of the “Inconvenient” Evidence?
The gendarmes’ footage was filed in the attempted murder case on 2 June 2015, but we notice that it is divided, unnaturally, into four pieces. Numbered as follows: (00791MTS)15:48:52 – 15:49:55; (00792MTS)15:50:39 – 15:51:02; (00793MTS)15:51:29 – 15:55:36 and (00794MTS)15:59:58 – 16:01:17. Chronologically speaking, three passages are missing from the footage, totaling 5 minutes and 55 seconds. During my hearings, I informed the criminal investigation bodies about Leordean Vasile’s testimony, as well as about the fact that passages are missing from the recording made by the gendarmes. All requests in this regard were ignored for over three years. Only after the case was taken over by the third case prosecutor, at the moment when the criminal investigation was concluded, prosecutor Mihai-Eduard Ilie ORDERED the handing over of “all the recordings”. In the ORDER of 15.11.2018, prosecutor Ilie admits that something is not right with the footage filed by the Gendarmerie. “In the file there is a computer data storage medium – DVD no. 451SCTI21 of 02.06.2015, containing recordings and photographs made at the scene by a team of gendarmes within the “Decebal” Hunedoara County Gendarmes Inspectorate; from the examination of the video recordings it results that some of these would be missing” (doc.3). It was too late… The attempt (the simulation?) to recover the removed/withdrawn evidence took place at the moment when nothing could be recovered anymore. Through an official letter, the Hunedoara County Gendarmes Inspectorate shows that the footage was deleted TWO months before being requested by the Prosecutor’s Office, at the expiry of the term of 3 years and 3 months from the date of registration in the register concerning the record of probative activities. “Attached, we forward to you a copy of report no. 2570944 of 04.09.2018 by which the files from May 2015 were deleted” (doc.4).
There Are No Coincidences…
There are only less-clarified facts that give the impression that they overlap by chance, accidentally, and inexplicably. In reality, things connect. It is not by chance that agitators from Baru, a commune in the vicinity of Râul Alb, led by mayor Daniel Răducanu, were recruited into the “Local Division of Provocateurs.” He admitted, in the statement he gave before the prosecutor, that he knew Leordean Vasile, Leordean Sara, Sălășan Luca, and Andrioni Alin before the incident: “I have known Leordean Vasile for several years, being married to a girl from the village of Livadia, Baru commune; I am a friend of his”. (doc.5). About Sălăşan Luca, the man who transmitted monitoring reports for Călin Dejeu, we know that he lives in Baru Mare and that he is the godson (and friend) of the mayor of Baru commune, a commune in which a micro-hydropower plant was built in the protected natural area of which Râul Alb is also part. It is obvious that Sălăşan knew of the existence of the MHP in his commune, given that there was a scandal on this subject in which the local councilors and his godfather were involved. The mayor had been accused by councilors of having concluded certain documents in favor of the Italian investors of the micro-hydropower plant on Băruşor, without passing them through the local council: “Mayor Daniel Răducanu, accused of having worked in the interest of the smart guys from energy, ended up with a criminal complaint on the grounds that he used his capacity as official over Baru commune to make himself useful to an owner who built a micro-hydropower plant in the area” (art.1). The former adviser of Elena Udrea obtained European funding for a five-kilometer communal road through the forest. From the accusations of the local elected officials, we realize that the real purpose of building the road was to provide facilities for building the adduction of the micro-hydropower plant on Băruşor. By pure “chance,” the adduction is also five kilometers long and overlaps exactly with the communal road. Normally they are two distinct projects and they were not allowed to overlap for at least a period of five years. Practically, Răducanu’s road spared the MHP investors much of the adduction costs. From this we can deduce that a special “relationship” was born between the mayor, the Italian investor, the builder of the micro-hydropower plant, and the builder of the road. As a result of this “successful” formula, in 2014, their appetite for micro-hydropower plants appeared. We, being in the immediate vicinity, were the first targeted. It is known that the PDL member Răducanu Daniel is one of the most influential men in the area, and that explains the abuses that followed.
The abusive behavior of the “volunteers” who contributed to the hijacking of the investigation, even before I was loaded into the SMURD helicopter, entitles me to believe that the punishment of the criminal was not wanted, so as not to reach the persons who instigated the provocateurs.
